Comportant trois véhicules différents qui ont combiné pour former un robot massif, le Getter Robo qui était le robot de transformation original. Les Getter Robo ont été créés pour défendre la planète de tous ce qui la menaceraient. Mais ces robots étaient si puissants que ceux qu'ils ont à protéger ont commencé à les craindre. Une crainte si grande qu'il a conduit l'humanité à détruire ses sauveurs et leur créateur. Mais maintenant une ombre a rampé à travers la lune. Les échos faibles peuvent être entendus. Les chuchotements terrifiés racontent les envahisseurs. L'humanité se recroqueville maintenant sous l'oeil attentif d'une menace extraterrestre au delà de leurs cauchemars. Leur seul défense sont les Getter Robo, et le seul homme qui peut les rapporter se trouve sous terre. Ou est-il ?

Professor Kaneda creates the ultimate soldier robot, Tetsujin, as a substitute for his son, Shotaro, whom he mistakenly believed died in a bomb raid on Tokyo during World War II. To prevent the army from using Tetsujin as a tool for destruction, the professor hides the robot on a remote island. Ten years after the war, Tetsujin is finally resurrected after 28 attempts made by the late Professor Kaneda's protege, Professor Shikishima. Without notice, a Zonder appear at the Tokyo Bay, merging with debris and a passing ship which have kids on its deck, advancing to Shinjyuku - the center of Tokyo. The Japanese Self-Defense Forces' conventional weapon has no effect and some kids are taken hostage. But there is the hero who stands against that Zonder Robot. His name is Guy the Cyborg, the commander of GGG's Mechanized Unit. The GGG ("Gutsy Geoid Guard") are the newly-made Japanese secret defense forces against the extraterrestrial invasion.

Against the backdrop of World War II, humans are also fighting against alien invaders. The Nazis and the Kanto Army are trying to steal alien technology to gain an advantage. Using the same alien technology to power giant robots, the Kishin Corps try to keep the Axis powers and the aliens in check. The Nazi's have joined forces with alien invaders in a bid to conquer the world, and only the valian actions of a small band of heroes and their armored giants.

Dans un futur très Jazz comme dans les année 30, un jeune garçon nommé Hajiki Sanada vie avec sa mère et sa soeur dans UNIT 74, que l'on surnomme aussi "Night Town". La vie de notre jeune héros va changer le jour ou devant lui, il verra cet étrange objet que l'on appelle "Gad", devenir son robot. Très rapidement, il s'apercevra que celui-ci est unique parmi les autres mecha qui existe dans cette ville. Commence alors pour lui une vie pour protéger et comprendre son "Iron Giant" qu'il appellera "Lightning".

On January 1, 1995, a G-Reactive fighter plane was being tested, while it was hit by a mysterious rainbow light and disappeared. 5 years later, two boys, Billy Kimura and Penny Carter, meet at a train station where a new bullet train utilizing G-Reactive was being launched.
